VENUE

Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin Campus Mitte 10117 Berlin, Germany

We have various venues and locations for our Summer School. We will provide you with all detailed information via e-mail and here. On Tuesday morning (9am), we’ll meet in front of seminar rooms 3 and 4 at Virchowweg 9, 1st floor. Lectures on Wednesday and Thursday (9am), will be held at the Paul-Ehrlich-lecture-hall in Virchowweg 4. The lecture on Friday (10am) will be held at the lecture hall in the pathology building, Virchowweg 14. Throughout the day, we will change locations to buildings that are all within short walking distance.

GETTING THERE

We highly recommend using the Berlin public transport system (BVG), since there are very limited parking availabilities in central Berlin.

Traveling information:

If you arrive by plane, we recommend travelling by public transport to your hotel. The Airport Express (FEX) and regional trains (RE7, RB14) run several times an hour between Berlin Central Station and the station “Flughafen BER – Terminal 1-2” and other parts of the city are well connected, too. (more information).

Please check out the next direct connection from airport to your final destination here

We recommend to buy the “9 €-Ticket”, a special ticket allowing you to use all regional public transport in Berlin and Germany in August. It is available at all ticket machines. You can also use it for visiting other places in Berlin or for traveling to the social events of the summer school. If you do not need the “9 € Ticket”, you need a “single ticket ABC” for the connection BER Airport – Berlin Central Station (3.80 €). Please note – wearing a FFP2 (N95)-mask is mandatory in Berlin public transport.

Public transport:

The Campus Charite Mitte is in walking distance (10 min) from Berlin central station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof). Alternatively, you can take the M5/M8/M10 trams for one stop to the station “Invalidenpark”. Just follow the Tram symbol at the central station to find the spot where the trams leave. From Invalidenpark station, it will be a 3 minute walk to reach entrance “Hannoversche Staße”. If your hotel is not close to any of those spots, the Bus 147 (stop “Robert-Koch-Platz”) also brings you to close to entrance “Hannoversche Staße” and “Luisenstraße 7”. If you want to check schedules or routes for public transport, you can use https://www.bvg.de/en  or https://www.google.com/maps.

Access to the Campus Charite Mitte:

To access the Charité Campus, please show your invitation (sent via e-mail), your personal ID and a negative SARS-CoV2 test result (PoC antigen rapid test not older than 24 h, PCR test not older than 48 h). Employees of Charité, DRFZ or BIH can alternatively show their employees-ID. You can find different public testing facilities here

COVID 19

During the event:

Wearing a FFP-2 (N95) mask covering mouth and nose is mandatory whenever you are inside a building. Masks and disinfectant will be provided. Please keep your distance and stick to the current rules regarding the pandemic which can be found here.

Furthermore, we need to collect your contact information – to inform you in case of a Corona infection in our group.

Testing will be performed daily. Employees of Charité, DRFZ or BIH can alternatively show their employees-ID. For those with German citizenship – please use the “Bürgertest” testing sites which are free. For all others, we will provide you with testing possibilities every evening – please let us know to discuss details. However, you need a negative test result to enter the Campus on Tuesday – https://www.berlin.de/corona/en/testing-facilities/ Please consider the “general rules of conduct and hygiene” mentioned on that website. In the testing facility, mention that you will visit a hospital to get a reduced or free test. Some testing facilities close to Charité Campus Mitte:
